Volleyball Recap: Leo Lions vs. Warsaw Tigers
Leo kicked off their season on the road on Wednesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Warsaw Tigers by a score of 3-2. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
While Leo ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 17-25, 23-25, 21-19.
Warsaw's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ellie Hepler, who had 29 digs and ten assists. Hepler is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last ten games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Rooney, who had seven digs and five aces.
The win made it two in a row for Warsaw and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Leo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Homestead on the 21st. As for Warsaw, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Carmel on the 23rd.
