Basketball Recap: Perquimans Pirates vs. North East Carolina Prep
The Perquimans Pirates had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against North East Carolina Prep by a score of 59-48 on Friday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Perquimans has managed all season.
Perquimans was led to victory by Jalyn Nelson and Nyquan Riddick. Nelson dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Riddick scored 19 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Riddick scored 15 or more points. Shavoris Lewis Jr. was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, North East Carolina Prep had strong showings from CHADWICK BARNES, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds, and CICERE LANCASTER, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. BARNES is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was TYZIER BROWN, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Perquimans' win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for North East Carolina Prep, they dropped their record down to 3-14 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
