Softball Recap: Alleman Wins Going Away Against Orion

Alleman made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Orion, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Alleman blew past Orion 19-3 on Thursday. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 12-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sydnee Ganahl made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Rhylee McMeekan was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyla Possin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

Alleman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orion only posted an OBP of .458.

The win got Alleman back to even at 2-2. As for Orion, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Alleman will be playing at home against Mercer County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Alleman's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mercer County has averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Orion, they will head out to take on Geneseo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
