Football Recap: Winfield Piles Up the Points Against Magoffin County

While Winfield put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Magoffin County. The Generals simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hornets 43-0. Considering the Generals have won three matches by more than 35 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Winfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gannon Boggs, who rushed for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries. Braxton Adkins was another key rusher, rushing for 60 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Winfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Winfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brock Graziani, Aiden Tate, and Levi Craigo picked up one apiece. Winfield received some extra help from Cristian Cruz, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The victory made it two in a row for Winfield and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Magoffin County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winfield will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for Magoffin County, they will venture away from home to challenge Estill County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Hornets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
