Basketball Game Preview: Canyon Eagles vs. Randall Raiders

Canyon is 2-8 against Randall since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Canyon Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Randall Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Canyon will head into Tuesday's match on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Perryton on Tuesday. Canyon blew past Perryton 64-37. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Rangers are ranked 933rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Randall had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 85-35 win over the Demons. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

Randall is also on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for Canyon, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Canyon lost to Randall on the road by a decisive 66-50 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Canyon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
