Baseball Game Preview: Valley Christian Vikings vs. Making Waves Academy Marlins

For the second straight game, Valley Christian will face off against Making Waves Academy. The Vikings will challenge the Marlins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Valley Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Valley Christian will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Making Waves Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Vikings put the hurt on the Marlins with a sharp 17-7 win on Tuesday.

Valley Christian let Levi Delgado and Levi Heise run wild. Delgado got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Heise got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Delgado has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tommy Perryman, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Valley Christian pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Making Waves Academy, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-6-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Valley Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Making Waves Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts.
