Recap: Leroy Bears vs. Florala Wildcats
The Leroy Bears pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Florala on the road by a decisive 81-63 margin. While losing is never fun, Leroy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Florala is ranked 147th).
Leroy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ray Phillips, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Phillips hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was Taylor Crumedy, who scored 23 points along with two steals.
Florala's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rayshon Coleman, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Coleman hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. Christian Greasham was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 22 rebounds.
Leroy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Florala, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-9.
Leroy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Florala, they will square off against Georgiana at TBD on Wednesday. Georgiana has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,331 points over their last 18 contests.
