Baseball Recap: 14 Straight Home Victories for Iona Prep

There's no place like home for Iona Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Francis Prep Terriers 3-2. The Gaels haven't had any issues with the Terriers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Shane Jelenevsky tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Devin Diaz was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Guzman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for St. Francis Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 18-10.
