Recap: Westminster Christian Wildcats vs. Madison Academy Mustangs
It was a good run, but The Westminster Christian Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Madison Academy 47-7. The low total for Westminster Christian limited their streak of high-flying scores to nine in a row.
Brandon Musch threw for 41 yards on six of 12 attempts.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madison Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kenyon Cherry, who rushed for 223 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per carry. Cherry was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Williams, who rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry.
Westminster Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Madison Academy, their victory was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster Christian will take on Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hokes Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hokes Bluff is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
