Recap: Weston Ranch Cougars vs. Linden Lions

The Weston Ranch Cougars had already won 17 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50.4 points), and they went ahead and made it 18 on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Linden 131-35 at home. Weston Ranch has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 games by 27 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Mateen Rafiq, who went 14 for 22 from beyond the arc en route to 42 points and 4 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Richard Banks, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 assists.

Weston Ranch's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 24-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 93.8 points per game. As for Linden, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season.

Weston Ranch will face off against Modesto Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Weston Ranch knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 matchups -- so hopefully Modesto Christian likes a good challenge. Linden does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
