Baseball Recap: Freedom Gets the Win

Freedom won against Boone on Thursday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Patriots narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tohopekaliga Tigers 3-1. For the Patriots, this counts as revenge for the 7-4 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

John Paul Rodriguez Torres looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Freedom saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Echols, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Freedom and bumps their season record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Tohopekaliga, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.

Looking ahead, Freedom will welcome Orangewood Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Tohopekaliga, they will be taking part in a tournament against Celebration at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
