It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hampton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Unaka Rangers, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since April 4th.

Briley Davis spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Malory Lamb was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hampton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 7-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Hampton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Unaka, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hampton will face off against Cloudland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Unaka, they will square off against North Greene at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
