Lynnwood and Shorewood are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Royals will head out on the road to take on the Stormrays at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lynnwood is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Lynnwood fell victim to Mountlake Terrace and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 20-0 to the Hawks. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Royals' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Shorewood owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Cedar Park Christian 1-0. While the Stormrays didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The result came thanks to Ellie Van Horn's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shorewood's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Grace McLaughlin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Lynnwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Shorewood, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Lynnwood suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Shorewood in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Royals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
