Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Mater Dei Catholic

Mater Dei Catholic proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Olympian Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Crusaders have posted since March 27th.

Mater Dei Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Arri Romero, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mater Dei Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olympian struck out 11 times.

Mater Dei Catholic pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Olympian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7-1.

Coming up, Mater Dei Catholic will welcome Mission Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Olympian, they will face off against Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
