Baseball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

If Washington was riding high fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Pekin on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Streator Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Washington got a good showing from Thomas Diederich, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs Diederich has allowed since back in March.

At the plate, Washington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Humphrey, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Washington's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6. As for Streator, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-9 record.

While Washington had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
