Preview: Mifflin Punchers vs. East Tigers

The Mifflin Punchers will head out on the road to face off against the East Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mifflin is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.

Even though Whetstone scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Mifflin still came out on top. Mifflin secured a 66-60 W over the Braves.

Tariq Johnson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. John Glover was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, East pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 83-59 defeat at the hands of Linden-McKinley. While losing is never fun, East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 660th, while the Panthers are ranked 319th).

Mifflin's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Mifflin came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 56-53. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mifflin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
