The Weaver Bearcats will square off against the Spring Garden Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Monday, Weaver made easy work of Ragland and carried off an 11-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearcats.
Connor Hyatt and Tucker Michaels made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hyatt tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Michaels struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Hyatt has become a key player for Weaver: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 6-7 otherwise. At the plate, Hyatt got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run, while Michaels went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Hyatt a new career-high.

In other batting news, Weaver let Zane Hairrell and Braylen Gregory run wild. Hairrell got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Gregory got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two RBI gave Hairrell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Andrews, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Weaver always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ragland only posted an OBP of .241.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Spring Garden challenged Faith Christian on Thursday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Lions. Considering the Panthers have won six games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Weaver now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Spring Garden, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
