Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Calvary Day's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Calvary Day won the last time they faced Beach and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Calvary Day Cavaliers walked away with a 66-53 victory over the Beach Bulldogs. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Beach lost, don't look at Jayden Newton. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 17 on his way to 25 points and three steals. Newton continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Singleton, who posted seven points and three steals.

Calvary Day is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Beach, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Day will square off against Benedictine at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Beach, they will take on Islands at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Beach is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.
