Football Recap: Warren Starts Season with Loss at Home

Warren unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 31-7 to the Saint Joseph Jesters on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 19-12 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Although Warren took the loss, they still got scores from Jocelyn Escobar and Isabella Gonzalez.

Even if they lost, Warren's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Leila Camonte, Yeya Ron, and Sofia Aceves, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Lexi Loya went supernova For Saint Joseph., throwing for 259 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 32 yards. That's the most rushing yards Loya has posted since back in October of 2024.

Saint Joseph's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Warren has already played their next contest, a 20-6 defeat against Western Christian on the 15th. As for Saint Joseph, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 27-0 victory against Woodrow Wilson on the 14th.
