Basketball Recap: Mason Walker Key Part of Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

Terry Sanford had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They secured a 74-69 W over the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots on Saturday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Terry Sanford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Walker, who went 9-for-17 to rack up 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Those 21 points gave Walker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mekhi Ross-Barker, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Freedom Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce West, who posted 33 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Karsten Swinney, who earned 19 points and five assists.

The defeat snapped Freedom Christian Academy's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.

Coming up, Terry Sanford will take on Pinecrest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they will face off against Northwood Temple Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
