Baseball Recap: Bishop Moore Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bishop Moore walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Mulberry Panthers on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tony Castro tossed a big game, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Danny Garcia, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Nate Davis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Bishop Moore is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Mulberry, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-9.

Bishop Moore will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
