Recap: Coahoma County Red Panthers vs. North Side Gators
The Coahoma County Red Panthers had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They came out on top against North Side by a score of 40-33. Given Coahoma County's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while North Side is ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jerasmus Eagins, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Caleb Hearns was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Coahoma County's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for North Side, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Coahoma County will take on North Panola at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for North Side, they will head out on the road to face off against O'Bannon at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Bannon is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
