Softball Recap: Gaither Comes Up Short

After soaring to 21 runs the game before, Gaither was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Chamberlain Storm by a score of 3-2. The Cowboys were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Storm apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Carolyn Emanuel was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Riley Russell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Gaither's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Chamberlain, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gaither will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Alonso at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. As for Chamberlain, they will face off against Brandon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Brandon has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.88 runs per game on average), something Chamberlain will no doubt try to take advantage of.
