Baseball Game Preview: Socastee Braves vs. North Myrtle Beach Chiefs

For the second straight game, Socastee will face off against North Myrtle Beach. Socastee will look to defend their home field on Friday against North Myrtle Beach at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Socastee has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while North Myrtle Beach will arrive with six straight victories.

Socastee fell victim to North Myrtle Beach and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-0 to the Chiefs, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

For North Myrtle Beach's part, Jake Frick looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Frick has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, CJ Oxendine was incredible, firing off two home runs and two stolen bases while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.

North Myrtle Beach pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Socastee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
