Baseball Recap: Harrells Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Harrells Christian Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Kerr-Vance Academy on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 8-7. The Crusaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 7-2.

Luke Weeks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Harrells Christian Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-10 otherwise.

This is the second loss in a row for Harrells Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-11. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Harrells Christian Academy will challenge Halifax Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, they will face off against Durham Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.25 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
