Baseball Recap: Saint Viator's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Saint Viator waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Grayslake Central Rams by a score of 7-4. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Hunter Mills tossed a big game, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. He is becoming a predictor of Saint Viator's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 7-3 (and 13-14 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Brandon Thomsen and Jacob Oberwise did most of the damage at the plate: Thomsen got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Oberwise went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave Oberwise a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Tschanz, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Saint Viator's record is now 20-17. As for Grayslake Central, their loss dropped their record down to 26-10.

As of now, neither Saint Viator nor the Rams have any future games scheduled.
