Basketball Game Preview: Fort Lupton Bluedevils vs. Skyview Wolverines

Fort Lupton hasn't had much luck against Skyview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bluedevils will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-14, which was the final score in Fort Lupton's tilt against Kennedy on Monday.

Meanwhile, Skyview was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 36-32 to Aurora Central.

Fort Lupton will need to focus on slowing down Reyna Martinez, one of several Skyview players who made an impact when they last played. She posted seven points and five steals. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Angie Abeyta, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Fort Lupton's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Skyview, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Fort Lupton took a serious blow against Skyview when the teams last played back in February of 2022, falling 77-8. Thankfully for the Bluedevils, Nevaeh Lucero (who went 6-for-8 to rack up 12 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
