Softball Recap: Maricopa Rams vs. Catalina Foothills Falcons
Maricopa had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 4-10 to make it six. They came up short against the Catalina Foothills Falcons, falling 14-3. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Maricopa saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aliyah Cox, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Sophia Flores also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
As for Catalina Foothills, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-9. That looming 14-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.
On Catalina Foothills' side, the team relied heavily on Kailin Habben, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one triple. Those three runs gave Habben a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinkley King, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Looking ahead, Maricopa is taking a road trip to face off against Ironwood Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Catalina Foothills will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' matchup: after the Rams face off against the Nighthawks, they'll take on Catalina Foothills again at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
