Softball Game Preview: Tennyson Lancers vs. California School for the Deaf Eagles

The Tennyson Lancers will venture away from home to take on the California School for the Deaf Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Tennyson is leaving town to face California School for the Deaf after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Tennyson came up short against Irvington on Thursday, falling 22-3. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Tennyson saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vivianne Lozano, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, California School for the Deaf put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Emery as California School for the Deaf made off with an 11-4 victory.

Julianna Hammons made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Hammons was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Geneva Brock, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Aliyah Alvarez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

California School for the Deaf always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Tennyson might still be hurting after the 22-0 loss they got from California School for the Deaf when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Can Tennyson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
