Basketball Recap: Porter-Gaud Drops Season-High Score on Cathedral Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Porter-Gaud). They breezed by the Cathedral Academy Generals to the tune of 66-32 on Saturday. The Cyclones have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 30 points or more this season.

Porter-Gaud can attribute much of their success to Perry Chambers, who went 7 for 14 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Sellers, who posted nine points.

Cathedral Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Raven Williams and Madison Jackson. Williams had 15 points, while Jackson earned ten points. Ellie Bonilla also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Porter-Gaud and bumps their season record up to 7-8. As for Cathedral Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-16 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Porter-Gaud will take on First Baptist School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. First Baptist School will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Porter-Gaud surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cathedral Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 44-39 win against Andrew Jackson Academy on the 20th.
