Softball Recap: St. Joseph Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

After only two runs in their last matchup, St. Joseph Central made sure to put some runs up on the board against Green on Friday. The Irish blew past the Bobcats 10-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Irish's hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Kate Oxley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Anderson and Mady Woefel did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Woefel scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most hits Anderson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Anna Qualls, who scored a run and stole a base.

The victory snapped St. Joseph Central's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-6 record. As for Green, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, St. Joseph Central will face off against Nitro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Irish are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Green, they have already played their next contest, a 16-6 win against Grace Christian on the 12th.
