Basketball Game Preview: Bovina Mustangs vs. Hale Center Owls

The Bovina Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Hale Center Owls at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Tuesday, Bovina came up short against Olton and fell 47-38. Bovina has struggled against Olton recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Hale Center has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were dealt a 76-42 loss at the hands of Farwell on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Steers are ranked 37th).

Bovina's defeat dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Hale Center, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

Things could have been worse for Bovina, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-37 loss to Hale Center in their previous matchup on January 7th. Can Bovina avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
