Football Recap: Arp Extends Winning Streak to Five

Arp had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 33-21 win over the West Rusk Raiders. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Arp didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Wyatt Johnson led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Chrisden Ellis is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season.

West Rusk lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kemontrea McGregor, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one score. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 67 yards. Judson Dotson was another key player, throwing for 223 yards and three TDs.

Arp's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for West Rusk, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Arp will square off against Kountze at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for West Rusk, they will challenge Woodville on Thursday.
