Basketball Recap: Guilderland Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Brooke Lilley and Madyson Hamilton

Guilderland lost against Colonie Central back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Guilderland Flying Dutchmen came up short against the Colonie Central Wolfpack, falling 72-50. While losing is never fun, the Flying Dutchmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Wolfpack are ranked 16th).

Despite the defeat, Guilderland had strong showings from Madyson Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards, and Brooke Lilley, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hamilton a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Christina Williams, who put up seven points.

This is the second loss in a row for Guilderland and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for Colonie Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Guilderland will welcome Schenectady at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colonie Central, they will face off against Averill Park at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th.
