Softball Game Preview: Central Magnet vs. Giles County Bobcats

Central Magnet will square off against the Giles County Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Magnet has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Central Magnet's last matchup with Pope John Paul II could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. Central Magnet lost 14-8 to Pope John Paul II.

Megan Weber made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayley Mangrum, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Giles County faced off against Marshall County on Monday. The Bobcats had just enough and edged out the Tigers 9-8.

Giles County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Central Magnet, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Central Magnet might still be hurting after the 16-1 defeat they got from Giles County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024.
