Basketball Preview: Council Lumberjacks vs. Horseshoe Bend Mustangs
Council is 10-0 against the Mustangs since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Council Lumberjacks will be playing at home against the Horseshoe Bend Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Council has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Council scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Salmon River, posting a 73-28 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Council has managed all season.
Meanwhile, Horseshoe Bend had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 63-53 win over Tri-Valley on Tuesday.
Horseshoe Bend's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Layth Bromgard, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Bromgard is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelun Jones, who scored 19 points.
Council's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-11. As for Horseshoe Bend, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Council beat the Mustangs 56-49 in their previous meeting back in January. Does Council have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
