Baseball Game Preview: Borger Bulldogs vs. Perryton Rangers

Borger is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Perryton an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Borger Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Perryton Rangers at 1:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Borger's offense. They lost 14-0 to Canyon on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Perryton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Hereford 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Isaac Chavira spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Perryton's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 5-15 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaxten Castanon, who went 3-for-5 with one home run. Perryton is 4-1 when Castanon posts three or more hits, but 4-14 otherwise.

With the win, Perryton broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-15. As for Borger, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-16.
