Timberline has gone 8-2 against River Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Blazers will square off against the Hawks at 3:30 p.m. Timberline will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
On Monday, Timberline made easy work of Bellarmine Prep and carried off a 20-1 victory. The Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Porsha Miller made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kayleese Dorfner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Brookelyn Read was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Timberline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, River Ridge had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Rams by a score of 10-7.
Like Timberline, River Ridge also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaylah Sok Vandergriff. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Sok Vandergriff has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lana Trinidad, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Raylie Birklid, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Timberline pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for River Ridge, their record is now 9-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Timberline has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like River Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Timberline took their victory against River Ridge in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 21-11 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blazers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
