The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Cardinal O'Hara nor Neumann-Goretti made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Lions fell 5-1 to the Saints.
Cardinal O'Hara saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Campuzano, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Colin Thomas also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Devon Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Archbishop Carroll on Wednesday, taking the game 7-2.
John Doogan tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Billy Degler, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Hudson Swan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Devon Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Archbishop Carroll only posted a batting average of .174.
Devon Prep is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Cardinal O'Hara, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
