Baseball Game Preview: Preston Indians vs. Pocatello Thunder

For the second straight game, Preston will face off against Pocatello. The Indians will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. Preston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Preston lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Pocatello, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Indians blew past the Thunder 12-1 on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Indians as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Caide Oxborrow made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Preston got a massive performance out of Conner Thomson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Thomson is becoming a predictor of the Indians' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Janson Hollingsworth was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Preston was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pocatello's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Preston, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-6.
