Baseball Recap: Nutley Takes a Loss

If Nutley was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Caldwell on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Maroon Raiders fell 5-2 to the St. Benedict's Prep Gray Bees on Friday. The Maroon Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gray Bees earlier this season, when they won 15-0.

Nutley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Straface, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Eugenio Roman also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Nutley now has a losing record of 6-7. As for St. Benedict's Prep, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Nutley will face off against Westwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Maroon Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Benedict's Prep, they will square off against Livingston at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
