League recap: Methodist Children's Home tops Phoenix Charter to extend winning streak

TCAL Division I (6 Man) recap November 19, 2013

Methodist Children's Home added to the longest winning streak in TCAL Division I (6 Man) this week by beating Phoenix Charter, 52-12. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.

Fort Worth THESA fell to FEAST HomeSchool 56-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Marcus Ross was a bright spot for the Riders, as he threw for 46 yards, ran for 28 yards and caught 4 passes for 20 yards in the defeat.

Allen Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cody Vega threw for 137 and 3 touchdowns and John Brien had 108 yards receiving. On the ground Vega chipped in 197 yards. Caleb Philips helped Allen Academy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.

The Rams' dynamic duo of Vega and Brien proved tough for BVCHEA HomeSchool to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Philips helped Allen Academy's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 29 yards.

He went 5-7 with 2 interceptions.

Brien was a key player and the best on defense this week as Allen Academy bested the Mustangs. The 5-foot-10 senior pulled down 1 interception.

6-foot-0 quarterback Stanley Dunbar of Methodist Children's Home is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,666. He has also thrown 46 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Calvin Hill. The Live Oak Classical star has 29 catches for 702 yards.

Colin Baker has rushed for 937 yards on 133 carries so far this year.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Matt Rodgers' team takes on the Patriots. At the moment, the Bulldogs are in first, while FEAST HomeSchool is in third.

The league will see a high scoring game when Methodist Children's Home and Michael Dagerath's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Bulldogs comes in having scored 663 this season, while the Patriots have scored 577. Methodist Children's Home scored 52 points last week as it beat the FireBirds.

Jason Jolly's team led the league in scoring this week by notching 68 points on BVCHEA HomeSchool. Vega ran for 197 yards in the win.
