The Avon Braves will take on the Wellsville Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Avon sitting on four straight victories and Wellsville on nine.
Avon can't be too worried about heading out to take on Wellsville: they just beat Wayland-Cohocton at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Braves walked away with a 6-3 win over the Eagles on Tuesday.

Jessie Crye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyleigh DeRider, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Charley Pierce also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Wellsville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Le Roy with a sharp 7-0 victory. Considering the Lions have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kennedy Perry was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Perry was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Lindsay Stuck was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Adams, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Wellsville's win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Avon, their record now sits at 15-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Avon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 14.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wellsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
