The Dripping Springs Tigers will square off against the Vista Ridge Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Dripping Springs will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Westlake, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Tigers came out on top against the Chaparrals by a score of 45-35 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Chaparrals are ranked 53rd).

Chase Ames was his usual excellent self, throwing for 412 yards and five TDs while completing 73.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 33 yards. Those 412 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Merrik Bloomgren was in the mix too, providing Dripping Springs with two scores.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Vista Ridge beat Round Rock Westwood 38-34 on Friday.
Vista Ridge's win came from a few key players Dripping Springs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jonah spikes, who rushed for 131 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries. Another passer making a difference was Cameron Lacek, who threw for 226 yards and one TD.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Vista Ridge proved: they limited Round Rock Westwood to a paltry 2.2 yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Wyatt Porowski stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss). Vista Ridge's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.6 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.77 on average over their last five games.
Vista Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cameron Pietrzak, Carson Miller, and Dom Acevedo picked up one apiece.
Dripping Springs' victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.9 points over those games. As for Vista Ridge, their record now sits at 7-3.
Dripping Springs took their victory against Vista Ridge when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 34-14 score. In that game, the Tigers amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
