Softball Recap: Daphne Picks Up Eighth Straight Win on the Road

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Daphne had no problem doing just that on Monday. They never let the Fairhope Pirates get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 matches by six runs or more this season.

Victoria Moten made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 3rd.

In other pitching news, Campbell Hicks looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Daphne got a massive performance out of Abby J Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since April 3rd. Claire Senese was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Daphne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.

Daphne pushed their record up to 35-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Fairhope, their loss dropped their record down to 27-11.

As of now, neither Daphne nor the Pirates have any future games scheduled.
