Softball Game Preview: Zachary Broncos vs. Ponchatoula Green Wave

Zachary is 0-3 against Ponchatoula since February of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Zachary Broncos will face off against the Ponchatoula Green Wave at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Zachary's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Jefferson RISE Charter as Zachary made off with a 20-0 win. The contest marked the Broncos' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Ponchatoula came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over French Settlement on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Green Wave have posted since April 26, 2024.

The result came thanks to Abby Dagro's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Zachary's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Ponchatoula, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Zachary might still be hurting after the 15-4 defeat they got from Ponchatoula in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Zachary avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
