Basketball Recap: Foothill Takes Down Ranked Durango

On Thursday, Foothill faced Durango in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Foothill Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 win over the Durango Trailblazers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Leading Foothill to victory were Dejon Townsend and Packer Kelley. Townsend made all 5 shots he took to post 10 points, while Kelley posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Tyler, who put up eight points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Durango lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aleksander Baletic, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Elijah Outlaw-Mcdaniels was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Foothill's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-15. As for Durango, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-10.

Foothill will challenge Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Liberty's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 games. As for Durango, they will face off against Silverado at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Silverado is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.
