Baseball Recap: Centralia Drops Season-High Score on Carbondale

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centralia). They never let the Carbondale Terriers get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

The result came thanks to Archie Goewey's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Centralia is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Rhett Lambert was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabe Houser, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Centralia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Carbondale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centralia will venture away from home to square off against Flora at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Carbondale, they will head out to take on the Orphans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
