Baseball Game Preview: Santa Fe Demons vs. Los Alamos Hilltoppers

Santa Fe hasn't had much luck against Los Alamos recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Santa Fe will venture away from home to face off against Los Alamos at 3:00 p.m. Santa Fe will be strutting in after a victory while Los Alamos will be coming in after a loss.

Santa Fe barely beat Pojoaque Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Santa Fe was the clear victor by a 12-3 margin over Pojoaque Valley on Thursday. That looming 12-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Demons yet this season.

Santa Fe got a massive performance out of Darrell Carbajal, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Carbajal has posted since back in April of 2024. Austin Tokoroyoma was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Carbajal wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Santa Fe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pojoaque Valley only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Los Alamos' offense. They lost 11-0 to Clovis on Saturday.

Santa Fe has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 10.5 hits in those games compared to only four in the others. Los Alamos' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-4.
