Recap: Crooms Academy Panthers vs. Orlando Science Orcas
The Crooms Academy Panthers were handed a two-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Orlando Science Orcas on Wednesday. Crooms Academy really took it to Orlando Science for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-26 win at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Crooms Academy has managed all season.
Crooms Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from D'Elio Cestero, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Tyrell Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Orlando Science saw an underclassman step up: Myles Gipson scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gipson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenneth Reyes, who scored three points along with 17 rebounds and two steals.
Orlando Science struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Crooms Academy racked up 14 assists.
Crooms Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Orlando Science, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Crooms Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome First Baptist Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (First Baptist Christian Academy is ranked 673rd, while Crooms Academy is ranked 662nd). As for Orlando Science, Orlando Science and Ridgeview Global Studies Academy will face off at 8:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
